  • Qualifications

  1. Exemplifies a mature Christian walk, acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and shows desire for continued growth.
  2. Must have Seminary degree or equivalent, with previous experience preferred.
  3. Demonstrates a passion for people, raising leaders, education and discipleship of both youth and adults, and a calling to serve.
  4. Is self motivated to initiate tasks without direct supervision, works well in a supervisory capacity and as a team player.
  5. Is theologically compatible with Chancellor Baptist Church. Has beliefs that are in agreement with the bylaws of the church and with those of the Senior Pastor, and must become a member of the church.

 

Roles/Expectations

 

I. Youth

  1. Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of College, High School (grades 9 through 12), and Middle School youth (grades 6 through 8) ministries and implement programs in order to develop spiritual, social, recreational, and fellowship programs for these students. This will include the development of an overall youth plan for the church for a balanced comprehensive Christian education to Youth/Students.
  2. Assist with youth leadership in providing opportunities for members of the youth to be directly involved in missions and ministry – both locally and outside the community.
  3. Coordinate the enlisting, discipling, training and motivating of adults to serve in youth ministry.
  4. Create and implement an overall youth evangelism strategy for the church.
  5. Create events for parents of youth related to their parenting roles, and activities for parents and youth.
  6. Handle administrative aspects for combined middle schools and high school youth activities.
  7. Prepare and submit an annual budget for Youth to the budget committee. Monitor budgetary spending in the areas of Youth.

 

II. Education

  1. Develop, lead, teach, and/or manage programs to disciple believers and unbelievers through Bible study and Christian educational opportunities, such as, but not limited to, Sunday School, Discipleship Training, Vacation Bible School, in-home Bible studies, etc.
  2. Pursue and evaluate new and effective teaching methods to stimulate the spiritual growth and developmental needs of the congregation.
  3. Prepare and submit an annual budget for education to the budget committee. Monitor budgetary spending in the areas of education.
  4. Assess the strengths and deficits of the educational ministry of the church and guide the Congregation in building on the strengths and addressing the deficits.
  5. Provide training seminars for teachers and other lay leaders.
  6. Research curriculum and provide resources to the church body and lay leadership.
  7. Encourage the membership to make disciples and to spur one another to maturity by challenging and encouraging individuals to discover the gifts that Christ has given them, and by empowering the laity to use their gifts to fulfill the calling of our church.

 

III. Other

  1. Assist the pastor in all areas of ministry as requested and directed by the Senior Pastor to include prospect visitation, member visitation, and hospital visitation.
  2. Participate in personal spiritual development activities.
  3. Supervise the Coordinator of Children Ministry. Oversee the Coordinator’s development of programming for children from birth to Grade 5.
