A Ministry of Stewardship
In
the Bible, a steward means manager
and stewardship means management.
Biblically, the owner owns everything,
the steward nothing, yet the
steward is accountable to the
owner for the management of all
the owner’s possessions. The
Christian recognizes God’s ownership,
and biblical stewardship is our
management of that which belongs
to God to support His redemptive
purposes as revealed in Jesus
Christ.
Corporate
Stewardship
The
church, as a steward, is responsible
for two areas: responsible management
of the church’s resources in
keeping with its mission; development
of Christian stewards, which
involves educating church members
to understand Christian stewardship
and implement it in their lives.
Only the church can teach believers
how to live the Christian life,
including the proper relationship
to material resources.
Personal
Stewardship
Christian
stewardship is learned. Stewardship
is living life, recognizing that
all resources – material and
spiritual – belong to God, and
that He has entrusted them to
us to be used for His purposes.
The
Church Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee serves as the management committee of the church and is responsible for developing and implementing a ministry of stewardship. Four committee sections function independently at times and come together at other times as a single unit. The four sections are Education, Budget, Estate, and Accounting. Each section works with the committee chairman to accomplish section and committee goals.
