The mission of Chancellor Baptist Church is to demonstrate God's love and grace by:

  • •  Sharing the message of eternal life through Jesus Christ,

    •  Reaching out to people of all backgrounds,

    •  Worshiping together as the family of God,

    •  Growing together as the family of God, and

    •  Reflecting the character of Christ as we live in the community.

What We Believe
We value personal commitment to God (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); relationships that are warm, caring, and supportive; worship through a variety of God-centered expressions; spiritual growth that is rooted in the Bible and sustained through prayer; and ministry expressed through service, missions, outreach, and evangelism.

Our History
Chancellor  Baptist Church began as a dream of the Missions Committee of the Fredericksburg Baptist Association in the early 1970s. Through the generosity of Mr. George Thorburn, the association was able to obtain just over twelve acres of land on Gordon Road for $15,000. This property was designated for the site of a mission church to be established later. The dream continued in the late 1980s and the Salem Baptist Church agreed to act as the "Mother Church" for a new mission.
